How do podcasts work?

Podcasts are a versatile way to share audio with others through the internet. Podcasts can be listened to individually on the internet or subscribed to through programs like Itunes(c).  The advantage of using podcasts versus simply uploading a .mp3 file is that podcasts can be subscribed to and easily and quickly listened to on the internet, whereas mp3's take time to download to listen to and can't be subscribed to. Below are the instructions for how to use Itunes or how to simply listen to one sermon online.

ITUNES:
Right-click on the sermon title and click on "Copy Shortcut" (Internet Explorer) or "Copy Link Location" (Firefox). Open Itunes>Advanced>Subscribe to podcasts. Next, paste the shortcut into the box and press "ok". You are now subscribed to Mark's Sermons! The sermon you clicked on will start downloading, and Itunes will continue to download sermons as they appear on the website.

TO LISTEN WITHOUT DOWNLOADING:
Left-click on the sermon. On the next page, left-click on the sermon mp3. This will bring up a Quicktime(c) window in which you can listen to the sermon immediately.
